English: The Croft, Fletcher Moss Gardens. In 1878 one Emily Williamson (no relation as far as I know!) organised a meeting here to discuss the exploitation of birds in the manufacture of hats. This led, in 1890, to the formation of the Plumage League which later became the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). |
