English: The Botanic Gardens, Belfast Now called the "Botanic Gardens Park" the gardens opened in 1828 as private botanical gardens. They passed into municipal ownership in 1895. Now largely ignored by most of the residents of Belfast, the gardens are frequented mainly by students, residents of "bed-sit land" and the occasional tourist. This is the view towards the Palm House.
