English: Pollok House Pollok Estate was owned by the Maxwell family for over six centuries and the present house was built in 1747-1752 to designs by William Adam. In the 20th century Sir Rowand Anderson was commissioned to add wings to the four-storey house. Gifted to the City of Glasgow in 1966 it is now managed by the National Trust for Scotland and open to the public. The interior has period furnishings and magnificent paintings by El Greco, Murillo, Blake and many others. There are also beautifully kept gardens and extensive wooded grounds.
