Summary

Description
English: Papplewick Pumping Station, steam winding engine. This is a 1922 built Robey of Lincoln horizontal duplex steam winding engine. It was used at Linby Colliery and although the smaller of the two steam winders was the coal-puller. It was a fast little engine and great fun to watch. It stopped in 1982, after 60 years' service, and was moved to Papplewick in 1983. It is beautifully restored and run more or less as it would have been in service. This is one of very few surviving duplex winders and the only one that can be seen operating.
