Description
English: Flood levels, Preston Mill Preston Mill is a 17th century building although grain has been milled on this site since the 12th century. The mill was extensively renovated in 1760 and is still functional. The present wheel is of iron with wooden paddles, measures 3.4m in diameter and drives two mill stones. The mill was presented to the National Trust for Scotland in January 1950. The engravings on this wall indicate the height to which flood waters reached. The uppermost records the height of the water in August 1919, the lower engraving, August 1911 and the middle stone, the height reached in October 1990 and April 1992.
