English: Exhibition Square, York Exhibition Square, close to Bootham Bar, is dominated by the York Art Gallery. The building was first opened in 1879 for a fine art and industrial exhibition; it became a permanent art gallery in 1892. The statue outside the gallery is of local artist William Etty.
