Summary

Description
English: An ash sapling from Sussex split down the middle. A child suffering from a hernia was passed through the split; the sapling was then bound together, in the belief that this action would result in the healing of the hernia. Owned by the Folklore Society and on display at the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading, Berkshire.
